Judi Coey |
Optometrist
Judi graduated from QUT in 1989 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Optometry. She started her career in Central Queensland with her husband Ken, servicing Mackay and the surrounding mining towns. In 2002 the Coey’s sold up everything to live on a catamaran and sail the east coast of Australia with their three children. Judi managed to work as a locum optometrist between sailing, schooling the two eldest children and changing nappies.
In 2006, the family bought a 50-acre property in Maleny where they started up a cattle farm called Maleny Wagyu. Since establishing herself here, Judi has spent the last 10 years working as an optometrist in Maleny as well as immersing herself in local book clubs, the Maleny Business Network Group, the chaplaincy committee and previously the P&C committee at Maleny State High School.
Judi is a member of the Optical Association of Australia and is strongly committed to continuing education and attends a number of courses each year in addition to many training modules. Judi’s particular interests in optometry are in eye health, pathology, paediatric vision care and low vision.
Outside of optometry Judi loves sailing with family and friends when she gets the chance. She also enjoys skiing (although she is still perfecting her skills) and traveling. Other interests of hers include keeping fit, exploring the Sunshine Coast Hinterland and catching up with family and friends.
Recently Judi completed the Ocular Therapeutics course through the Australian College of Optometry in Melbourne. This has enabled her to treat and manage eye diseases such as glaucoma, conjunctivitis, herpes keratitis and many more.
Rebecca Lawrence |
Optometrist
Rebecca has been a Sunshine Coast local since 2007. She lives on the range with her husband and 3 beautiful daughters.
Rebecca graduated from QUT with honours in 2002 and has a special interest in nutritional support for holistic health and quality vision for life.
Rebecca loves hiking, spending time at the beach and sourcing fresh locally produced good.
Anna| Reception/Optical Dispensing
Anna is a Maleny local and joined us in February 2021. Born in Maleny, Anna and her husband have cherished raising their children in her home town. Anna is loving being a part of the Judi Coey Optometry family and really enjoys helping our clients to find their perfect eyewear.
Anna’s other interests include cycling, camping, skiing, motorbike riding and spending time with her family and friends.
Jane| Reception/Optical Dispensing
Jane and her family moved from the beautiful rolling hills of Brookfield to the glorious mountain ranges of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland after retiring from a career as Practice Manager for a General Surgeon at The Wesley Hospital in Brisbane.
Jane has immersed herself into Maleny life and loves getting involved in this exceptional community and joining the warm, wonderful, kind and caring team at Judi Coey Optometry. Jane enjoys the great outdoors and sharing her beautiful garden with friends and family. friends.
Sarah | Reception/Optical Dispensing
Sarah is a Maleny local who, when not helping the team to find your next favourite frames, enjoys various creative hobbies and spending time exploring the great outdoors.

Bron along with her family have been long term Maleny locals for 28 years couldn’t imagine living anywhere else!
Bron has worked locally around town in the medical field so you may already know her friendly face.
Bron is a very busy lady but in her rare spare time loves to explore our local outdoors, travelling and spending quality time with friends and family.
